The PMG Mining Workforce recently celebrated Mid-Autumn festival, also known as the Mooncake Festival, at its Bishop Mine site in the Northern Cape. The annual day is being celebrated by China from September. It is one of China's biggest holidays, with a joyous celebration of family reunions, mooncakes, parades, and lanterns. Other Asian countries, such as Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines, also observe the day with different names.

The Mid-Autumn festival dates back more than three thousand years. On the day, the Chinese believe the moon is at its brightest and fullest size, coinciding with harvest time in the middle of autumn. Lanterns of all sizes and shapes are carried and displayed. It means prosperity and a bright future.

The festival shares three fundamental concepts: gathering together, thanksgiving, and praying. All staff members received a mooncake to mark this all important day on the Chinese calendar. The caring company further donated gifts and mooncakes to two of its shareholders, namely Mr. Morris Morole and Mr. Herbert Motlonye. Both thanked the company for the kind gesture, saying its heartwarming to be associated with a company that is forever thoughtful.
