PMG Mining Company hosted a vibrant celebration to mark the Chinese New Year at its mining site. The event saw employees from diverse backgrounds celebrating the two-day event and ushering in the year of the Snake. The year of the Snake symbolizes: rebirth, regeneration, and the pursuit of love and happiness, though snakes hold a slithering bad reputation across many Western cultures, the animal is celebrated and revered across the Eastern hemisphere.
Throughout the two days, the Chinese employees – along with some South African employees, the company CEO, General Manager, and Mine manager – enjoyed a series of fun games and activities. This provided an opportunity for employees to bond and share in the joy of the occasion. The celebration also featured traditional Chinese cuisines, with a wide variety of delicious dishes enjoyed by all in attendance.
Company CEO, Mr. Peter Liu expressed his pride in the company’s multicultural workforce and the positive spirit employees share. He also emphasized the importance of celebrating cultural diversity, noting that events like these strengthen the sense of community and cooperation within the company.
The company’s General Manager, Mr. Willie Oosthuizen wished his heartfelt wishes of prosperity and success for the Chinese colleagues, their families, and friends. He said that the company values the diverse cultures within the company and the celebration was a testament to the unity and respect we share at PMG Mining.
Mine Manager, Mr. Molaootsile Bodumele extended his warm greetings to the Chinese employees and honored the rich traditions and contributions of our Chinese colleagues.
As the festivities came to a close, employees left with renewed energy and optimism for the year ahead, knowing that the celebration was a reflection of respect and unity at PMG Mining Company.
