PMG Mining strives to encourage Healthy Eating & Physical Wellbeing of our employees. The Wellness Day event is an encouragement to all our staff to eat healthy, do physical exercises and reap the benefit of healthy living.
As quoted previously by our Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Lin van der Westhuizen, “our health is the most important part of our lives.”
Mr. Wei shared that wellness is a continuous process that needs our continuous attention, and there should be five aspects that define our wellbeing which include Physical, Mental, Social, Intellectual and Spiritual health.
In the words of Dr. Kgatle, “Holistic health & wellness include physical exercise and keeping active, following the wellness anthem which is the pre-school song of ‘head, shoulders, knees and toes.”
Fun was had.

We opened the activities with the excitingly invigorating aerobics session held by our very own Environmental Officer, Mr. Kgotlelelo Sihlangu. The aerobics awakened the spirits of all present and pushed us into the feels for the rest of the day.
We then moved to our Basketball court to see our very experienced players in action. The support and team spirit was amazing and infectious. The game was tight with a score of only 4 to 3 with Mr. Yang He’s team winning the match and Mr. Menezes Chivimbi displaying his active talents.
The ladies Netball game was not to be underestimated with a score of 4 to 2 with Mr. Wei’s team taking home the trophy. Don’t let this fool you, yes Mr. Wei and Mr. Vincent He quickly learned the skills of ladies’ netball to lead them into a competitive game.

Then what the majority of the employees were waiting for: Battle of the departments on the soccer field. It was Workshop versus Mining Site and Mining Site Shengda United versus Process Plant. Shengda United played Mining Site to take the trophy. The love for the sport was clearly visible with the awesome participation from both players and spectators.

Last but not the least of the activities was the Dominoes game which represented the mental health of employees. The competition was won by our very own Workshop / Mining Site combo, Owen Orpen and Ephraim Gidinyane.
The Hoola Hoop competitions was won by non-other than another male participant Fenias Sumbane from Process Plant.

The day was a huge success and greatly welcomed by the PMG Mining family. Healthy Positive Teamwork will always be the main theme of PMG Mining. PMG MINING, YOU ROCK!!!!!!!
